On July 6, 2023, the Department of Social Development Science and Technology under the Ministry of Science and Technology officially released an announcement regarding the "Catalogue of National Advanced Green and Low-Carbon Technologies." The catalogue features a total of 87 technological achievements across six key areas, among which Southern Environmental Protection's "Underground Wastewater Treatment Plant Odor Control Biotechnology" was selected as one of the 15 cutting-edge innovations in the field of atmospheric pollution control.

Moreover, these facilities are typically located in densely populated urban areas, resulting in substantial environmental impacts. With the increasing adoption of sludge drying technologies in newly built treatment plants, high-temperature, dust-laden, highly hydrophobic, and chemically complex odorous gases are generated—further complicating the task of odor control and treatment.

It also includes stringent requirements for various detailed areas, including equipment and material characteristics, machining accuracy, and testing methods.
