Group Overview:

        Founded in 1987 by a group of senior scientists from the Guangdong Academy of Sciences, Nanfang Environmental Protection Group is a company in which the Academy holds a controlling stake. It is a national-level high-tech enterprise that integrates environmental technology R&D, engineering design, equipment manufacturing, project construction, operation and maintenance management, and comprehensive services. The Group comprises Guangdong Southern Environmental Protection Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Zhongzhou Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd., Guangdong Zhongzhou Environmental Protection Industrial Co., Ltd. and Anhui Zhongzhou Environmental Protection Co., Ltd., and has established a nationwide network of localised services; it operates two major modern production and R&D bases in Zhaoqing, Guangdong, and Anqing, Anhui.

        In 2021, the Group was recognised as the first national-level ‘Specialised, Refined, Distinctive and Innovative’ (SRI) ‘Little Giant’ enterprise in the environmental protection sector, and successfully passed the re-evaluation in 2024. It currently serves as an Executive Vice-Chairman unit of the Guangdong Environmental Protection Industry Association, a Vice-Chairman unit of the National Engineering Laboratory for Volatile Organic Pollutant Control Technology and Equipment, and a core member of the Guangdong Industrial Technology Innovation Alliance for Volatile Organic Compound Pollution Control. The Group has established two provincial-level engineering and technology research platforms: the Guangdong Provincial Engineering Technology Research Centre for Industrial Organic Waste Gas and Odour Control, and the Guangdong Provincial Engineering Technology Research Centre for Safe Sludge Storage and Energy-Efficient Conveyance.

R&D and Technological Strength:

        The Institute of Microbiology, Guangdong Academy of Sciences, serves as the Group’s robust technical backbone in the field of environmental microbiology. With over fifty years of research heritage, it ranks among the top three microbiology research institutes in China. It houses multiple national and provincial-ministerial-level innovation platforms, including the State Key Laboratory of Applied Microbiology in South China and the Guangdong Provincial Microbial Strain Collection Centre (a national patent strain collection institution). Its robust research infrastructure and talent pool empower the Group’s continuous technological innovation.

        The Group adheres to the deep integration of industry, academia and research, having established an integrated innovation system comprising ‘laboratories + engineering centres + industrial commercialisation’. It has jointly established the National Engineering Laboratory for Volatile Organic Compound Pollution Control Technology and Equipment with South China University of Technology. By bringing together a team of high-calibre professionals—including members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, recipients of the National ‘Ten Thousand Talents Programme’, National Excellent Young Scientists, PhD supervisors, senior researchers and senior engineers—the Group continues to focus on the research and development of environmental pollution control technologies and product iteration, thereby contributing to the high-quality development of the industry.

        With innovation as its foundation, the Group has successively won more than thirty national and provincial/ministerial-level science and technology awards, including the First Prize of the National Environmental Protection Science and Technology Award, the First Prize of the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, the First Prize of the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Invention Award, and the First Prize of the Guangdong Provincial Environmental Protection Science and Technology Award; It has undertaken projects under the National 863 Programme, the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Technology Innovation Fund for Science and Technology-based SMEs, the Guangdong-Hong Kong Key Area Breakthrough Programme, provincial and ministerial industry-academia-research collaboration projects, and over thirty scientific research projects at provincial, municipal and district levels; it holds more than forty invention patents, utility model patents and software copyrights, over ten high-tech products, and more than fifty professional accreditation certificates. At the same time, it is deeply involved in the formulation of industry and local standards, contributing to the standardised development of the sector.

        The company’s core business comprises odour and VOCs control, sludge treatment systems, turnkey environmental equipment supply and engineering contracting, as well as environmental services and investment.
