29 provinces launch underground upgrades for wastewater treatment plants

Zhang Zheng, Vice Dean of Peking University's Guanghua School of Management: From 1995 to the present, China’s nationwide investment in infrastructure has exceeded 150 trillion yuan. Among this staggering figure, at least several trillion yuan worth of assets hold operational value. If these assets are revitalized to generate additional capital, they can then serve as equity funding—leveraging several times that amount into new investments. Currently, China has already built nearly 200 underground wastewater treatment plants, with 29 provinces now actively engaged in constructing similar facilities. The introduction of supportive policies is of great significance in advancing green, cutting-edge infrastructure projects for urban development.
